Because of its peaceful beaches, friendly residents and eco-friendly tourism, Watamu is a great place for those who love nature.

3. Malindi – Where the Past and the Sea Come Together

Malindi offers both beautiful beaches and important historical sites. This town used to be a center for trading in the Indian Ocean and now it shows the influence of African, Arab and European cultures.

  • Famous for its long, easy-to-walk coastline and gentle waves which make swimming and sunbathing enjoyable.
  • Near popular places like Mamba Village, Haller Park and Nyali Golf Club.
  • Has a variety of hotels, restaurants and beach bars to suit all budgets.
  • Nyali offers both the benefits of city life and the tranquility of the beach which is great for those who want both.

6. Tiwi Beach – A Great Place for Peace and Tranquility

  • Tiwi Beach which lies north of Diani, is a special place because of its peaceful waters and quiet setting. This is the place where you can let go, relax and spend time in nature.
  • Best for couples and honeymooners who want a private experience.
  • A good spot for DIY snorkeling, especially at low tide when the coral pools are visible.
  • Has both self-catering cottages and villas located next to the beach.
  • Tiwi is where you should go if you want a peaceful, private beach in Kenya.

7. Kilifi – A Coastal Town That Gets Overlooked

  • Kilifi which is found between Mombasa and Malindi, is not as famous as other places—but that’s what makes it unique.
  • Relax on Bofa Beach which has a lot of space and is not usually crowded.
  • Go to Kilifi Creek, a lovely estuary that is great for sailing, kayaking and enjoying the sunset.
  • Go to the Kilifi New Year Festival which is a green celebration of music and art.
  • Kilifi’s beaches are still untouched and give visitors a unique coastal feel.
